Homoeopathic Materia Medica forms the foundation and core of homoeopathic medical education. In alignment with the Competency Based Dynamic Curriculum (CBDC), the department is committed to imparting a systematic and in-depth understanding of drug pictures in their complete totality.
The subject emphasizes the comprehensive study of remedies, including mental symptoms, physical generals, particulars, modalities, constitution, temperament, miasmatic background, and remedy relationships. This holistic understanding enables students to master the art of individualization, which is the essence of homoeopathic prescribing.
Teaching–learning strategies include case-based learning, group discussions, comparative study of remedies, and integration with Organon of Medicine, Repertory, and allied clinical subjects. Students are trained to correlate drug proving, pathogenesis, doctrine of signatures, and therapeutic applications with real clinical scenarios.
Through interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, seminars, and clinical postings, the department aims to develop sound clinical judgment, analytical thinking, and professional competence. The ultimate goal is to prepare students to apply Materia Medica effectively in individualized homoeopathic practice in accordance with national CBDC guidelines.
