Department of Surgery

Vision

To evolve as a Centre of Global Excellence in Homoeopathic Education by preserving, promoting, and advancing the Homoeopathic System of Medicine through quality education, skill-based training, ethical patient care, and need-based research.

Introduction

The Department of Surgery provides structured academic and clinical training to undergraduate students over a period of two academic years (II & III BHMS). The curriculum is designed to impart comprehensive knowledge of surgical principles, diagnostic skills, and Homoeopathic management of surgical conditions, ensuring a strong foundation in both theoretical and clinical aspects.

The department follows innovative teaching–learning methodologies including interactive lectures, case-based discussions, demonstrations, seminars, and competency-based internal assessments. Early pre-clinical and clinical exposure enables students to develop sound clinical reasoning, diagnostic competence, and patient management skills from the initial stages of learning.

Emphasis is placed on the Homoeopathic approach to common surgical conditions, minor surgical procedures, and surgical emergencies, along with pre-operative and post-operative care. Students are trained to integrate surgical fundamentals with Homoeopathic principles to deliver ethical, evidence-based, and patient-centered care.

The department actively participates in community-oriented healthcare activities including surgical screening camps, health awareness programmes, and outreach services. These initiatives focus on early detection, prevention of complications, and promotion of community health.

To enhance experiential and skill-based learning, the department is supported by a well-equipped Advait Simulation Laboratory. The laboratory provides hands-on training in minor surgical procedures, wound management, bandaging techniques, emergency care, and clinical simulations in a safe and controlled environment, bridging the gap between theoretical instruction and real-time clinical practice.
